The National Migration Directorate (DNM), dependent on the interior cabinet vicepathy, increased migratory and border security controls during the first semester of 2024. In addition, it began a process of modernization of cybersecurity infrastructure and optimization of procedure management.
In this sense, the body of permanence control inspectors – in charge of carrying out the control of the legality of foreigners throughout the national territory – made 13% more operations and inspections throughout the country compared to 2023, which totaled in 16,416 inspections carried out in homes, shops and police stations, among other places.
Through a series of previously planned operations, controls on foreign population were carried out, both on the activities carried out by these individuals and by the requirement of justice or other control agencies. Likewise, the efficiency of these surveys was exponentially increased, increasing the detection of irregular situations by 125%.
In the field of border security, the DNM redoubled efforts in immigration control and the prevention of transnational crimes. So far from 2024, 311 expulsions of foreigners were carried out in conflict with the criminal law, 42% more than in 2023.
To optimize these results, an intervention protocol was implemented in police stations in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, which managed to identify more than 1,500 foreigners previously detained for having committed crimes, of which 60% were in irregular immigration situations.
Likewise, an agreement was signed with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of CABA to expedite and strengthen the cooperation and exchange of information, which allows a rapid intervention of the DNM in cases of foreigners charged with criminal crimes.
In this way, the DNM reaffirms its commitment to inter -institutional management and cooperation, with the aim of strengthening the links between the different powers of the State and thus promoting agile mechanisms and adapted to current challenges.
In tune with these advances, the DNM carries out a process of modernization of its cybersecurity infrastructure. For this, state -of -the -art technological solutions were acquired and implemented to optimize processes and guarantee information security.
