Looking ahead to the 2025 season, the National Directorate of Migration, dependent on the Vice Chief of Staff of the Interior, reinforced our country’s border crossings to enhance immigration control.
The main steps with Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia had an increase in the number of immigration control agents as well as in the number of service positions to expedite the transit of passengers from one country to another. Among the main border crossings with these countries, Cristo Redentor de Mendoza, Posadas and Iguazú in Misiones and Gualeguaychú, Colón and Concordia in Entre RÃos, Paso de los Libres and Santo Tomé in Corrientes stand out. For this season, a reinforcement of 99 workers was added to the 779 permanent agents.
Like every year, some of the main destinations for Argentines will be Uruguay and Brazil. For this, Migrations, in addition to reinforcing the bridges and crossings that link us with both countries, also increased the number of immigration inspectors in the port terminals of river passenger transport companies such as Buquebus and Colonia Express.
On the other hand, Colonia Express is renovating the passenger boarding sector, which is why circulation in the Immigration sector of said terminal was redesigned and immigration control service stations were renewed and incorporated, adding a total of 20 service stations.
Last November, with the arrival of the Viking Júpiter cruise ship to the Port of Buenos Aires, the 2024/2025 season was inaugurated at the Quinquela Martin Terminal. This arrival marked the beginning of one of the most notable seasons in recent years in which a significant influx of tourists is expected. The Quinquela Martin Cruise Terminal, considered the best of its kind in all of South America, is located in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and has 20 immigration control attention posts. For this season, 129 calls by large ships are expected, a figure that will attract close to 500,000 passengers.
Finally, immigration agents were also strategically distributed at the Ezeiza and Aeroparque airports to ensure that passengers can complete immigration control more quickly.
This reinforcement reflects a commitment to the modernization of control systems and the safety of citizens. Through the continuous incorporation of technology and the strategic distribution of agents, this initiative seeks not only to expedite transit but also to promote more efficient, transparent and aligned immigration management with international standards.
