Juazeiro/BA – The Federal Police deflagrou, in this sixth fair (10/01), to Operação Máscara Nova, in combat against counterfeit money crimes, in the northern region of Bahia and Pernambuco.
The investigation began with the flagrante detention of an individual, who was caught when he removed the encomenda from the mail containing unofficial identification cards of R$ 100.
Now, in the cities of Casa Nova/BA and Petrolina/PE, two search and arrest warrants issued by Federal Justice have been carried out, in order to address suspicions of arming and distributing inauthentic Real notes.
Those involved are subject to prison sentences of three to twelve years, in addition to a fine.
The production, acquisition, storage and review of false money is considered a serious crime, in this last hypothesis, even if people have received it from good faith.
