Tabatinga/AM. The Federal Police, in joint action with ICMBio and FUNAI, launched the Terra Viva Operation, whose duration runs from December 9 to 12, and its objective is to combat the illegal garimpo in Rio Solimões
The operation began through a survey carried out by the PF intelligence and resulted in the disintrusion of garimpeiros that promote unauthorized extraction of gold. At the same time, at this time, the dredgers and equipment used in the practice of crime have been destroyed.
Now we have as a focus the preservation of two rivers in the vicinity of the city of Tabatinga, Santo Antônio do Iça and its tributaries, these being rich in biodiversity and of extreme importance to the residents of the region, providing sustenance and inputs for the local indigenous tribes and ribeirinhas communities.
In this sense, a joint action aims to combat illegal garimpeira activity and environmental degradation, carried out and promoted by criminal organizations that act in the region in high profile.
As investigations continue, the aim is to identify the main recipients and eventual financiers of illicit activities, whose parties involved will respond to the crimes of usurpation of assets of the Union, environmental damage to the Conservation Unit, possible money laundering, among other correlated crimes.
