Brasilia/DF. The Federal Police issued, on this Sixth Fair (13/12), an Anti-Drug Operational Memorandum with the Department of Public Security of Italy, with the objective of strengthening trust between the police forces of two countries.
The agreement was signed by the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, and the director-general of the Department of Public Security of Italy, Vittorio Pisani, at the Brazilian Embassy in that country. Also accompanied by the Minister of Justice and Public Security of Brazil, Ricardo Lewandowski, the Minister of the Interior of Italy, Matteo Piantedosi, and the addition of the Federal Police in Rome, Umberto Ramos Rodrigues.
The agreement aims to strengthen trust between police forces in two countries and establish concrete actions, such as exchange of information, mutual training, integration of intelligence and implementation of joint operations, with the aim of increasing the success of combating criminal organizations operating internationally. .
Based on commitments assumed in important international treaties, such as the Palermo Convention (2000), the Convention against Illicit Trafficking in Entorpentes (1988) and the Bilateral Agreement of 1997, the memorandum reaffirms the strategic convergence between Brazil and Italy against confrontation with trafficking of drugs.
International cooperation between Italian and Brazilian security forces has been strengthened in recent years with various joint actions and projects, both in the sphere of police and legal cooperation.
