In the San Martín Palace, the IV International Technical Meeting on Human Mobility of Venezuelan citizens in the region was held yesterday in the objective of providing assistance and new tools for integration to Venezuelan migration in the continent.
Different national authorities, such as Argentine Chancellor, Jorge Faurie – who was in charge of the opening of the initial day – and the Director General of Consular Affairs, Luis María Sobrón, participated in the meeting, while by migrations the deliberations were headed by the national director of the agency, Horacio García; Accompanied by Osmar Alza, Director of International Affairs; and Sebastián Horton, general director of immigration.
The regional director of the International Organization for Migration (IIM), Diego Beltrand; the head of the Oim Argentina office, Gabriela Fernández; UNHCR regional coordinator, José Xavier Samaniego; Ambassador Elisa Trotta Gamus, representative of the president of the National Assembly and president of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó; and representatives of a dozen nations of the continent.
It is also highlighted the presence of cooperation, promotion and credit entities of the International Community, European Union, the United States and Canada.
Argentina proposed a regional mobility card for Venezuelans in addition to projects for the creation of reception and integration centers as well as orientation centers to refugees and migrants. In line with these proposals, the project of a migration orientation platform and human capital development was also added.
Given an enclosure full of foreign commissions, delegates of international organizations and concurrent countries, Garcia emphasized the importance of work together for the attention of immigrants and refugees: “Let’s work together that the future is provisional and America is the portion of the most open and more thriving world. We are the representatives, let’s honor this responsibility and go together to a better future. ”
Finally, the participants of our country, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela agreed to sign a statement with the purpose of continuing with what was agreed in the statements of Quito and continue working to reinforce the cooperation, communication and articulation between the countries of traffic and destination, particularly in the entry to the territories, the provision of assistance and the migration regularization.
